Introduction
Hello again everyone, I’m back with another review. Today I’m reviewing Danganronpa 2. I’ve enjoyed this game just as much as the first. I enjoyed this series far more than I thought I would.
Story
Jabberwock Island – once a popular tourist destination, this now uninhabited island remains oddly pristine. You and your classmates at the elite Hope’s Peak Academy have been brought to this island by your super-cute teacher for a “lovey-dovey, heart-throbbing school trip.” Everyone seems to be having fun in the sun…until Monokuma returns to restart his murderous game! Trapped on this island of mutual killing, your only hope of escape rests in solving the island’s mysteries. But be warned—sometimes the truth can be its own despair…
Danganronpa 2 STEAM Page
The story is just as good as the first one. I would highly recommend playing the first game before playing this one since it is a sequel. There were a lot of twists that constantly kept me guessing about what would come next.
Game Play
The game play has some similarities to the previous game. There are some differences such as characters, location, trial mechanics.
The main basis of the game is the same. You’ll swap between free time and investigations, culminating in a class trial. Just like the previous game your goal is it use evidence to make it through each trial. During free time you can hang out and bond with characters. Navigating to other places can be done with fast traveling or manually.
When changing locations, the view changes to something like a side scrolling game. When exploring locations, it’s still in a first person view with point and click mechanics.
Just like the previous game, class trials take place after a murder. You are then tasked with gathering evidence to use in the class trial to find the killer. There are still skills that exist that will hep you during trials.
Something new is a pet, it reminds me of those Tamagotchi pets. It grows with each step you take and you can give it gifts. Different items can be obtained after one is fully raised.
Music
Just like the first game, Danganronpa 2 has good music. I picked out some of the tracks that I enjoyed. As always comments on the YouTube videos may contain spoilers.
Likes
Just like the first game, the characters really stand out. There’s also some really good character development. I think the strongest point in the Danganronpa series are the characters. Just like the first game, the music continues to be great.
Dislikes
Just like the first game there wasn’t much of anything that I had an issue with. If I had to nitpick I’d say that that the sword mini game during trials was my least favorite. I couldn’t stand it. Another thing that I disliked was that the audio and the character voice volume. I had to bring the volume down quite a bit to better hear the character voices.
Conclusion
I really enjoyed this game. I enjoyed it just as much as the first. I’m honestly glad I’ve started branching out more. If I hadn’t, I would’ve missed out on this series. I really like how they built off of the first one. I’m looking forward to Spike Chunsoft’s upcoming game Master Detective Archives: Rain Code. As always thanks for reading, and let me know if you spot a mistake.

Excellent!
Danganronpa 2 is a great game with memorable characters. Danganronpa 2 builds off of the first game and creates an experience that is just as good, if not better.
