Devil May Cry 2 the Flop in a Good Series

As I mentioned a month ago I was just now playing through the Devil May Cry Series. I just finished DMC 2 and I was left quite underwhelmed and a little disappointed.

One of the biggest problems for me was the switches. Such a small part of the game made difficult by the auto lock on. You were basically forced to do a downward slash on the switch because normal hits won’t work because of the auto aim. You can read more about my auto aim complaints in my previous article.

Another issue I have is the story. You just get dropped in and a new group is introduced. You have these quotes from that group that appear before each chapter starts, but it just doesn’t click. The main guy you’re trying to stop has two easy boss fights then you fight this combination of all the previous bosses. It felt a little rushed like they couldn’t think of anything else. Then there is another boss after that, I can’t even remember it all that well and I finished the game like a couple days ago. The boss didn’t stick with me in anyway and it felt like it was thrown in at the last second.

I was questioning myself if I had really finished the game which was confirmed with the credits. I started DMC 3 and had the bad taste of DMC 2 completely washed out of my mouth. The opening was spectacular and I love the different styles that you can equip as it changes the way you play the game completely. If you want my advice skip DMC 2 and go straight to the third. Watch a walkthrough, just don’t play the game because it isn’t worth it. If you played DMC 2 let me know what you thought about it below. As always thank you for reading.
