I know that Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes has already released, but I wanted to talk about my thoughts on the demo. This was a game I was interested in, and definitely wanted to buy it after playing the demo.
The Game Play
The game play is obviously different since this is an Action RPG instead of a Turn based. There is strategy still involved though. From what was in the demo you will join battles have main objectives as well as side objectives to complete. Main objectives usually revolve around capturing strongholds. Side objectives will randomly pop up during a mission, but don’t have to be completed.
Before each battle starts you can move each unit’s position, just like in the previous games. From there you play as one character while the others act on orders that you give them and move on their own. You can switch to another character at any time. You can order units to attack strongholds, guard strongholds, heal, and go after certain objectives or enemies.
Part of your strategy should be paying attention to type advantageous and disadvantages. This will help you in deciding where to send your units.
Does it Still Feel Like Fire Emblem?
This game still feels like you’re playing Fire Emblem. If anything it has just the same amount, if not more, strategizing in it. Each battle has a set number of characters like usual, but you can order them to do different things. Like previously mentioned you can order units to take strongholds or complete the side objectives. Paying attention to type advantages and disadvantages is critical when it comes to giving your units orders.
You can change units classes like usual once a unit has reached the requirements. The support conversations still exist and function the same way that they do in Three Houses. I’d say that these support conversations are a step up from Three Houses since they are fully voiced and the new main character gives a new perspective.
How’s the Frame Rate
As we all know not all games that come out on the Nintendo Switch are completely optimized. Some games like Rune Factory 5 have frame rate issues. After playing all thee routes until their stopping point in the demo, I can report that I only encountered frame rate issues once. It was early on while characters were talking to each other. I did not notice any frame rate issues while completing missions. Playing has been a smooth experience.
Conclusion
I can definitely see myself getting this game in the future. It gave me the same feeling that Persona 5 Strikers did, and that’s that it still felt like the main series games. Sure you’re facing a hoard of enemies, but it still feels like Fire Emblem at its core. What are your thoughts on Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes? No spoilers please. As always thanks for reading!

Jun 29, 2022 11:19 amOh, frame rate was something I was really curious about. I’m glad to hear that that’s not a problem. I’m also really happy about the Fire Emblem lore and stuff still feeling like Fire Emblem.
Now…all I need to do is play Three Houses. XD
