I’m Excited for the Mega Man Battle Network Collection

The Mega Man Battle Network series is something that I did not discover until probably 2007 or some time after. It’s been so long that the exact year escapes me. I do remember that I had a purple GameBoy. I was pleasantly surprised when earlier this year it was announced that there would be a Battle Network Collection.

The first game I played was Mega Man Battle Network 4 was back when I was about 10. I went to a game store and just decided that I wanted to try it out. I think I got about half way through it before I stopped playing. You know how it is as a kid, some games you struggle with only to beat when you get older. As previously stated I finished the game the second time a played it a couple of years ago, probably 3 or 4. After that it was a couple of years before I completed another one. The only other Battle Network game I’ve finished is Battle Network 6.

I’m so glad that this series is being brought to the Switch, PC, and Playstation. All of the Battle Network games released for the Game Boy Advance, so it isn’t really easy to play them unless you use emulation. I’ve missed these types of Mega Man games. The last Mega Man game that released, with grid based combat, was Mega Man Star Force 3 in 2009. I hope this eventually leads to more Mega Man RPGs. If you’ve played the Battle Network Games but haven’t played the Star Force Trilogy, I would recommend them. The game play is slightly different, but the grid combat is very similar.

For some reason I’ve always enjoyed the Mega Man RPG games. Another one that comes to mind is Mega Man X Command Mission. This was a turn based RPG released on GameCube and PS2. It’s unfortunately pricey to get, but not when it came out. I’d definitely enjoy seeing it get remade.

Conclusion

What’s your experience with the Battle Network series? What games would you like Capcom to make a collection for? Is there another company you would like to see release a collection? Thank you all for reading!
