I’m a little late to the party, but today is Pokémon day! If you don’t know today is the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon series! It has been a bit since I’ve done a Pokémon Day related post.

When Did I start Playing?

I started playing Pokémon back when I was a kid. My first game was Pokemon Red Version for the Game Boy Color. I honestly can’t remember if I had been watching the show first or if I played the game first. I’ve been playing the games ever since then. The first games will always be special to me. I also remember the first and only time I completed the Pokedex. It was when I owned Fire Red and Leaf Green. I always remember waking up super early in the morning to watch it on TV. I’ve played every mainline game at this point, except for some of them like the Let’s Go games or the Sinnoh remakes.

Favorite Pokemon and Generation

To start things off, my favorite Pokemon is Sceptile from Gen 2. Sceptile is one of the coolest looking final evolutions for a starter. I also like the move leaf blade. I mean just look at it, I don’t think any other Pokemon comes close. I think they really knocked it out of the park with the Gen 3 starters.

My favorite Generation has to be Gen 5 with Gen 2 as a close second. I think that the story and the music from Gen 5 was just the pinnacle. It doesn’t mean something in the future won’t beat it, but it set a real high bar. I vividly remember buying Pokemon White and being drawn in by the image on the back of the DS game case. I was playing it non stop.

Gen 10 Revealed

Video from Pokemon Youtube Channel

I think most people were expecting to see something Gen 10 related. I’m glad that this next game isn’t releasing until next year. I definitely think that more time was needed to make sure that the issues from Scarlet and Violet don’t show up here.

My main hopes for this game is the return of an actual evil organization. I’d also like to see some kind of mini game like the Pokemon contests or the Triathlon from Heart Gold and Soul Silver. I do understand people might be upset that it’s a Switch 2 exclusive, but I feel like it was necessary for them to move forward. Scarlet and Violet did not run well on the Switch. On the Switch 2 those games vastly improved. I’m definitely looking forward to more information in the future. As always thank you all for reading! If you any question Pokemon related, like favorite spin off, let me know! I might be making a second post and will answer those questions here in the comments as well as adding them to the next post.

Happy Pokémon Day to you too! I've played most mainline games up to Sword and Shield (including the DLC), including Japanese Red and Green (Aka and Midori). And that "global release in 2027" made me smile. Hopefully, Game Freak realizes that rushing out games Call of Duty style is limiting the franchise. But as usual, we need to see gameplay on real hardware. One game I'd like to see would be a sequel to Pokémon Conquest.

I hope they truly learned their lesson. The hardware can handle what they want, they just need to take their time. I'm remember seeing ads for Conquest, but never played it. I'd love to see them bring back old spin-off games, even if it's just a re-release

I would also LOVE 2D-HD Pokémon games. That would be a literal work of art, especially considering how much beefier the Switch 2 is compared to the vanilla Switch.

I’m so excited for these new Pokemon . I love that one of the starters is a pomeranian dog , as I used to have one when I was a kid. Also Happy Pokemon day , my favorite is probably Aurorus .

I'm leaning towards Pombon, since I usually pick fire starters. It'll definitely be a tough choice
