PS5 Pro Image from PlayStation
A bit ago Sony announced the PS5 Pro. From what I’ve been seeing, it seems like a majority of people are uninterested, especially with that $700 price tag.
What’s Supposed to be different?
One of the biggest draws appears to be playing up to 120fps on supported games. That’s the biggest question mark though is how many games will even support up to 120fps?
One thing I can give the PS5 Pro credit for is having more base storage. Depending on what you’re playing that space can start to fill up fast. I’m curious about the PS5 Pro Game Boost and if the difference will be that noticeable. I’d imagine the performance boost will be less than the boost from the PS4 to the base PS5.
My Thoughts
I honestly don’t see the need to have the PS5 Pro. I’ve got the first model of the PS5, and it works just fine. The TV I have isn’t capable of 4K, so I wouldn’t even be able to take advantage of the feature. I feel like it doesn’t offer much more than the base PS5 does. The price tag is also pretty high up there, considering it’s $200 more than the base models. What makes things even worse is that for such a high price tag, it doesn’t even come with a disc drive. Imagine if when the PS4 Pro released you couldn’t put discs in it. I know it’s a good ways away, but I definitely worry about the next console generation prices. I don’t know if it’s just me but I don’t really see a need for improvements for a good bit. Instead of making slim and pro consoles, I’d like for Sony to release a new handheld console.
Conclusion
What do you think of the PS5 Pro? Do you feel like its something that’s a needed upgrade? if the price were lower would you consider it? A bit of short post today, but I’ll have something more substantial next time. As always thank you all for reading.

Sep 27, 2024 9:19 amI agree. The benefits that the Pro has to offer aren’t worth upgrading my base PS5. And honestly, even if I was a newcomer, I’d probably still opt for the base console due to the price.

Sep 27, 2024 9:23 amIf I was a newcomer I’d also still opt for the base ps5 as well. Mainly because most of my ps4 games were physical so I’d have to have paid even more money for the external disk reader
