Mass Effect Legendary Edition Quick Thoughts

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

I’ve recently been playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition. It’s gone beyond my expectations and gave me a chance to re-explore the games. Here are some of my quick thoughts.

Improvements

They did a great job enhancing the graphics. Things look so much better than before. The original game is good but I can see why someone might be put off by the graphics. I like the addition of the photo mode and have been using it regularly. Another thing I noticed was that unlike other games, these screenshots don’t have the copyright information from the developer. Below are some pictures I captured.

Tips

One of the biggest tips that I can give is to not skip the dialog while riding elevators in the Citadel. You can get a lot of new sidequests added that way. Doing these sidequests can lead you to special items as well as extra currency. You will also possibly learn more about the lore of Mass Effect.

Another tip that I’ll share is to be sure to visit multiple shops. Some shops have certain upgrades that others don’t have such as increased medi gel capacity and increased grenades. Visiting multiple shops will also help you find different equipment for your crew.

One important tip is to save often. There is an autosave feature but it is pretty inconsistent when it decides to save. Don’t rely on autosaves, at any point you could get a game over from walking into a situation that you’re unprepared for.

Try out multiple weapons attach upgrades. One weapon isn’t always going to get the job done and upgrades can help improve a weapon’s performance. Some upgrades can do things such as bypassing shields or doing fire damage. The sniper rifle is a pretty good weapon.

I missed some shots but it does some good damage.

The last tip I have is to make sure you’re building up your Paragon or Renegade points. Also make sure that you upgrade intimidation or charm when you level up.

Upgrading those stats will unlock extra dialog in certain character interactions. You might also be able to get your hands on special items as well as avoiding confrontations.

Issues

Though the game has been a great experience, I have run into some issues. One problem I had was when I was doing a mission on the moon. I exited the Mako and tried to enter a building only to find the X button unresponsive. Weapons also could not be taken out. I had to reload a save as since I could not get back into the Mako I could not return to the Normandy.

Another issue I had was crew members getting stuck. Members of the party get stuck at doors or have a difficult time following you. Other than those two issues I haven’t encountered any other problems.

Conclusion

As always thank you all for reading and your continued support. The best part of the game for me so far is doing missions that I missed when I first went through the games years ago.
