Year in Review

My 2020 Year in Review

As we all know 2020 wasn’t all that we wanted. I had internships I wanted that were all cancelled, but this post isn’t to talk about the bad stuff. I’m going to be talking about the games that helped me through this year. These games offered me a momentary reprieve from the world. Without further ado here is my 2020 year in review.

Persona 5 Royal

I played the original Persona 5 and when this was announced I had to get it. I got the special edition and I loved the collectible mask, art book, and cd that came with it. I found myself diving back into a game I already played with so many new things to do that I had to think each day in game what I wanted to do. I love the Persona series as well as the Shin Megami Tensei series and I’m looking forward to Shin Megami Tensei V as well as Persona 5 Strikers.

Devil May Cry HD Collection

Devil May Cry 3 Nevan
Dante with the Devil Arm Nevan

This was a purchase that I certainly did not regret. I bought this when it was on sale so I got Devil May Cry 1 – Devil May Cry 4 for around $21. Though I did not enjoy Devil May Cry 2 I thoroughly enjoyed the others as well as still enjoying DMC 4. Here are my thoughts on Devil May Cry 3. I never got the chance to play these games when they first came out and I’m glad that I made the impulse buy. I’ve poured countless hours into the series and look forward to buying DMC 5 when I finish 4.

Spider-Man Miles Morales

One of the finishers. Captured on ps5.

After finishing Spider-Man last year I was starving for more and this game did not disappoint. Playing as Miles Morales was very refreshing and was completely different from playing as Peter. The music for this game was a step up from the first, especially the music that plays when Miles gets into fights. The swinging theme is pretty good as well. This game goes beyond game play expectations by giving so many people the representation they were looking for. It’s a good feeling to play as a character that looks like you and have them be a super hero you can identify with. I’m looking forward to the next game from Insomniac.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

This was a recent purchase and I am disappointed that I did not buy it sooner. I went into this not expected much and I could not have been more wrong. I’ve been hooked since I first started playing it. I really enjoy how they did the combat and I like every character. The remake allows for more personality of each charter to be displayed by their voice and body movements compared to just text. I also enjoy the quests and mini games sprinkled throughout the game. I like that rewards for the quests are useful and not meaningless.

Summary

All these games helped me get through a really tough year. I didn’t go out often but I did meet up with friends every now and then to play Dungeons and Dragons. Obviously we haven’t be able to do that since before the summer. I hope that next year is a better year for everyone and that we can all look forward to the future. Thank you for reading my content as I had no idea how my blog would turn out since I’ve only been blogging for a couple of months. I’m happy with all the support I’ve gotten from the people I have met that do similar blogs. Be sure to follow my blog as well as on twitter as I have new content planned for next week. As always thank you for reading and I hope you all have a Happy New Year.
