Nintendo GameCube: Nostalgia Corner

I recently moved, and one of the things I wanted to do was work on my gaming collection. I’ve been gaming for at least 20 years at this point and have owned numerous consoles and hand helds. One of my biggest regrets was not holding onto them. The first console I reaquired was the Nintendo GameCube. This was my second console after having an original PlayStation. I remember when I first got it. It was a Christmas gift and my first game was Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader.

What Have I been Playing

At the moment, I only have one game, and it’s one of my favorites. It’s Pokémon Colosseum. This is a great and challenging Pokémon game. I still remember playing it back when I was a kid. I remember getting to the very end and not finishing it. This time, I plan on getting all the way through it. From what I remember, I was one or two battles away from finishing. If you love double battles, then this game is for you; all the battles are double battles.

This game was made around the same time as Gen 3, so it’s understandable since double battles were introduced then. I recently bought Custom Robo so I’ll be playing that soon, it’s honestly one of my favorite games.

Favorite Games

From the games that I remember, I definitely had a few favorites. Obviously, one of my favorites is Pokémon Colosseum. My second favorite game is Custom Robo, a series I wish Nintendo would bring back. I had a few other favorites like Mega Man X Command Mission, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2 Bush Rescue, Smash Bros Melee, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, and Sonic Riders. I definitely plan on getting some games that I’ve never played before like the Paper Mario series and Metroid.

More Retro Consoles?

As of now my plan is to slowly get more of the consoles that I owned as a kid to build back up my collection. The next console I plan on getting is a PS2 Slim. When I was a kid I had the original big model. There are some games I already have in mind for the system, like the Sly Cooper series. I still have my PS3, so that’s one less console I have to look for.
