I was scrolling through the internet as usual when some articles caught my attention. Multiple video game news outlets have reported that the upcoming Nintendo Switch OLED model will not fix the Joy-Con drift issue. From what I’ve read it is clear that Nintendo has not and will not fix this issue.
Why is This an Issue?
Joy-Con drift is an issue because it leaves games unplayable unless you have a wireless or wired controller. When I spend $300 dollars on a system I expect the controllers to not have this issue, especially when buying a single Joy-Con costs $40 USD or $80.00 USD for two Joy-Cons. The biggest problem comes from the Nintendo Switch Lite. The Joy-Cons are attached to the console and can’t be removed. If they start to drift you’ll have to get a wireless controller to play your games.
Nintendo Needs to Answer
Nintendo needs to address these issues. I’m tired of them acting as if it isn’t a problem. They know how bad it it because you can get your controllers repaired for free. To continue to ignore what the customers say is a disservice to us all. Nintendo needs to acknowledge the problem and issue an apology to consumers for ignoring the issue for so long. It’s been 4 going on 5 years since the Nintendo Switch first released.
Other Companies Have Issues
Nintendo isn’t the only company to have this issue. Microsoft and Sony have had reports of controller drift. Both companies have also had class action law suits against them. I know not every controller can be perfect, but to expect the consumer to buy a new controller that costs $60 USD is ridiculous. Sony and Microsoft need to repair controllers the same way that Nintendo is currently doing.
Conclusion
All I’m asking for is accountability. You can have products from a company yet still criticize them. I myself have been affected by Joy-Con drift. I hope that at some point these companies fix their issues instead of ignoring them. It probably won’t happen, but it never hurts to have a little hope. I’ll link some articles below so you can read up on the issue. Thank you for reading,
