Revisiting The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Image from PSN store

As some of you may know, I was in a huge gaming slump for probably two months. I really didn’t feel like playing anything new that I had got in sales. I naturally drifted to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, as I always enjoy just running around and exploring.

Skyrim has always been a great game for me to play when I don’t feel like playing anything else. There are so many things in Skyrim, that I am still finding new stuff to this day. I found an entire new dungeon to explore that I have never encountered since I first played back on the Xbox 360. That gives you an idea of how much content is in this game. It’s also great going back through some quest lines like the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood.

Skyrim feels almost endless, especially when you add mods into the mix. Some mods add new quests while other mods add new magic spells. Each play through you do has so many different ways you can you can change your play style. You can be a mage, an archer, fight with one handed weapons, or fight with a two handed weapon. In my current play through I’ve mainly been using one handed weapons and destruction magic.

If you have the DLC even more content gets added. The three DLC are called Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. Dawnguard and Dragonborn add new quests and new locations. Hearthfire lets you build your own home in three different locations, you can also adopt children.

Skyrim is truly a great game to run around in when you just don’t feel like playing anything else. There’s always something new for you to do whether it’s completing a quest a different way, using different weapons, or adding mods. If you ever want to experience Skyrim yourself, it’s available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. All DLC is included if you buy The Elder Scrolls V: Special Edition or Anniversary Edition.

Conclusion

As always thank you all for reading. Is there a game that you can always jump into when you don’t feel like playing anything else? Skyrim is really the only game that I can do that with. I can just make a new character and jump right in.

I can’t wait for the Elder Scrolls 6. I’m interested to see how they improve the series.

If it ever comes, we’ve been waiting for years even longer than I’ve been waiting for Silksong. I question if Bethesda is even working on it in the first place considering they seem to be focused on ESO which I have no intention of playing.

Regardless, me too, I can’t wait to see what it offers.

I always go back to Path of Exile. Poured hundreds of hours into it and I still find new things. I feel like people don’t think people think the endgame is not for casuals and yet somehow I manage with my ridiculous builds that don’t make any sense. I think that’s part of the joy I have going back every time: I have a crazy theme and try to make it work anyway.
And even more so I just love the lore. The little flavor texts from things like unique items and divination cards are so good.
OH also, Guild Wars 2. I tend to go back to that as well.

I haven’t delved too much into online RPGs, but I know of some. There must be a lot of different builds if you keep coming back. How many different builds do you think there are?

I usually end up doing everything in Path of Exile alone unless it’s with a close friend. But 95% of the time I’m solo. The way Path of Exile is set up can be overwhelming, excessive even, but that means you can customize the technicalities of your character much more than normal. Your skill gems are bought/found, so changing which skills you use is really whether or not you equip them, and the passive skill tree is massive. There are even slots in the passive skill tree that you can change with loot. I have like, 18 characters, and only a few of them use similar skills. But also keep in mind I make some really funky builds. I like pushing ineffective builds as far as I can. XD

Guild Wars 2 is less crazy on builds, but still has good combination with what you can do. Each class can use three specialization paths and each path has a small tree, so different combinations of paths and trees can make things pretty unique. That one definitely involves…..people though. haha

OH WAIT. This reminds me, I wanted to ask, are you interested in Starfield?

I love games that have skill trees. Being able to choose the skills you want makes things more personal and customizable.

I’m definitely interested in Starfield. I’m looking forward to seeing more of the game in the future.
