Revisiting the Gem that is Monster Hunter World

Nergigante Monster Hunter World

I’ve recently been going back through Monster Hunter World. It has honestly been pretty fun and I even started going after things that I missed like the rope lift in the Coral Highlands. Just a heads up, I don’t speak in any of the videos. I don’t have proper equipment to record my voice well.

Why I Restarted

The reason I got back into Monster Hunter World was because I was reinstalling old games. When I went to play it, I realized I lost my save file from my external storage. So I set out once more on my hunt. I originally thought that I would have a hard time getting back into it, but I remembered things easier than I thought I would.

Weapons I Use

I’ve been using the Charge Blade and the Bow. The Charge Blade is probably my favorite weapon. It’s my favorite because you can do quick strikes then deliver heavy hits. Being able to block is also great. I haven’t used the others much, but I might start experimenting. One thing that I’ve tried doing is to create a variety of weapons with different elemental types.

I need a little more practice with the bow. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but it feels like I haven’t fully utilized it. The bow is pretty fun honestly, the best part is not having to sharpen a weapon. I also like the different ammo types you can use. One thing I have yet to learn is how often status ailments are afflicted. If anybody knows this feel free to share!

Current Progress

I’ve been progressing steadily and have made it quite far. Right now I just finished hunting Nergigante and am now searching for the three mysterious Elder Dragons. I think the farthest I got before I lost my data was the Kushala Daora. The last fight I had it was almost dead, but I messed up a dodge and fainted.

Territory Fights

One of the most unexpected things that happened when I was on a hunt was having three monsters facing off. Below is a video of this event.

Had a huge fight break out in Elder Crossing.

Hunting Highlights

Below are some of my hunting highlights that I recorded.

Hunting down the Radobaan.

Hunting the Pink Rathian

Here are the last five minutes of me hunting Nergigante. I started out with my bow and finished up using the Charge Blade.

Conclusion

As always thank you all for reading and your continued support. If you would like to keep up with me on Twitter or buy me a coffee you can visit my links. Before I go here are some questions you can answer in the comments. What weapons do you use in Monster Hunter World? If you have Monster Hunter Rise how do you like it compared to Monster Hunter World, if you played it?

It’s been a very long time since I’ve played a MH game – I’m talking back in the Nintendo Wii days – but I’ve always heard how good this one is. I shrugged it off a bit because I already have enough MMOs on my plate right now, but maybe one day I’ll try it out. Is it still pretty relevant to someone who is a completely new player (and hasn’t had a lot of experience with MH in years)?

That being said, I did pick up Monster Hunter Rise over the weekend so… I might get some practice at the series after all! 🙂

I would say Monster Hunter World is very beginner friendly. There are tutorials in the game that explain as you go as well as an area devoted to testing your weapons. I definitely think it’s worth trying out.

I’ve never played it, but I saw it was made into a movie.

It’s pretty fun. I saw they made a movie, but I haven’t gotten the chance to watch it.
