I was recently thinking about the Nintendo DS and all the games I played. One game came to mind for me, and that was Sonic Rush. This was one of my favorite games for the DS.
What is Sonic Rush
Sonic Rush is a 2D platforming game released for the Nintendo DS in 2005. Sonic embarks on a new adventure and encounters Blaze the Cat and another Eggman? You’ll play as both Sonic and Blaze in this new adventure. Sonic Rush was the first Sonic game for the DS and also serves as the first appearance of Blaze the Cat. The Sol Emeralds also make their first video game appearance in this game. Sonic Rush makes great use of the dual screen of the DS.
In traditional Sonic fashion, you’ll go through several different stages divided into two acts and 1 boss fight at the end. The two characters Sonic and Blaze each have their own story to play through. The stages are the same, but the music is different depending on the character. In order to completely finish the game you’ll need to play through both stories and collect all the Chaos Emeralds and the Sol Emeralds.
Sonic Rush has Great Music
If there’s one thing that can always be agreed upon, it’s that Sonic games always have good music. Sonic Rush is certainly no exception. It may be on the DS, but the music is still top notch. Like I mentioned previously, the stage music has some slight variations depending on who you’re playing as.
My Thoughts
This is one of my favorite games in the Sonic series. I can’t praise the music enough as well as the variety in the stages. If you’re a big fan of the 2D Sonic games, then this game is definitely a must play. I wish they had continued this series as this game as well as its sequel are both great. I’d love for there to be a remake, but I know it won’t happen. Both games made great use of the dual screen of the DS. It also has one of my favorite things from Sonic Games, the Sonic Medley. This is a track that contains a mix of the songs in the game, transitioning from one to another.
Conclusion
What are your thoughts on Sonic Rush? Have you ever heard of it or played it? Did you know there’s a sequel to Sonic Rush called Sonic Rush Adventure? The sequel builds on this game and adds so much more to create another fun experience. If you’re interested in this game then you’ll want to check out the sequel as well. As always thank you all for reading!
