Introduction
Tales of Arise is an amazing RPG that I would recommend to fans of Action RPGs. This was a game I wanted to play last year, but I had already gotten so many others. I ended up getting it for Christmas, which I am very grateful for. I was able to finally finish it about last week. Some comparisons will be made with Tales of Berseria, but only because it’s the only other Tales game I’ve completed.
Story
I thought that the story and characters are great. The characters are really well done, and develop well as the game progresses. You notice these changes during combat, as some of what the characters say change. If I had finished this game last year it probably would have been number one or two story wise for me.
Game Play
In Tales of Arise you have a good bit of freedom in what you do. You have the main quests that are given to you that advance the story, but you also have side quests that you can do. New areas are unlocked as you progress the story, as well as new side quests. You can do side quests at any time, except for when the story locks you in a certain area.
Like the other games in the series, Tales of Arise is an Action Role Playing Game. Battles occur when you encounter enemies in the over world. In battles you can swap between different charters to play as who you want. You can also swap out current skills that each character has equipped. Characters that you aren’t controlling have access to all skills that you have unlocked for them, while you only have access to the ones you have equipped when using that character.
Music
I enjoyed all the music I heard in the game. Below are two that I would like to share.
Likes
As I mentioned earlier Tales of Arise is the second in the series I have completed, the first being Tales of Berseria. I loved how they changed the titles. I often found titles a little confusing in Berseria, but they’re simplified in Arise.
The new combat tweaks that were made were also enjoyable. I liked that you did not lose AG to when hit certain times, like in Berseria. Each character has something called an Artes Gauge, signified by blue diamonds. Some moves require more AG than others. In Berseria losing AG limited your move set until you could recover it.
Dislikes
The only dislike I can think of involves the quests. I would find myself reloading saves often when doing quests because the enemy or enemies were too high level. I would have liked for there to be a recommended level listed under each quest. This would have definitely helped me prioritize quests.
Conclusion
I really enjoyed this game and am looking forward to where the series goes next. I currently have Tales of Vesperia in my backlog, so I’m trying out other games in the series. How did you like Tales of Arise? As always thank you for reading!

Amazing
Tales of Arise is an amazing RPG that I would recommend to fans of Action RPGs. I enjoyed the characters as well as the story. If I had played this last year, it most likely would have been my number one or number two game of 2021.
