What Game Genres do I Play?

Hades Room

Sorry its been a bit since the last post. I got a little busy at work. This month is a super busy period so I’ve been doing overtime. I’ve also started a new workout routine. Here’s a short post about the different game genres that I play.

RPGs

This one is definitely not a surprise as RPGs make up about 99% of my content. I still remember the first RPG I played which was Pokémon Red for the Game Boy Color. I unfortunately don’t have it anymore, but I definitely have the memories. This led me into the wider world of RPGS. I used to only play turn based but I’ve ventured into Action RPGs like Hades.

Fighting Games

Some of you might not know, but I do play fighting games every now and then. I mainly play the Street Fighter series, but I also started getting back into the Mortal Kombat series. The first fighting game series I think I played was BlazBlue. I definitely want to eventually get back into the series as I enjoyed it. I recently played Street Fighter 6 and will definitely be revisiting it after all the announced DLC characters release.

Third Person Shooters

This one might definitely come as a shock to most of you, but I have been known to play third person shooters every now and then. The main series being the Metal Gear Solid series. My favorite game is Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. I’ve played through the game twice and would play through it again in a heartbeat. I’m also putting the Mass Effect series under here since I consider a RPG as well as a shooter. I’m hoping there will be a Metal Gear Solid Collection 2 that includes MGS4 and Peace Walker.

Visual Novels

I don’t really play a lot of visual novels. The main series I’ve played that falls into this category is Danganronpa. I started playing the first one I was immediately sucked in. I went on to purchase and play the other games back to back. Is the Ace Attorney Trilogy considered a visual novel or is it more of a point and click game? If it’s considered a Visual Novel it’s on this list. I definitely need to jump back into playing it.

Platformers

Now I don’t play many platforms and haven’t played many. The ones that I have played are the Spyro and crash series. A couple years ago, before the remaster of Crash 1-3, I played the original 3. I’ll admit that I never finished the original Crash, the save feature was a pain. I did finish Crash 2 and 3 though, even though I was often on the verge of giving up. I haven’t played Crash 4 because I don’t know if I can put myself through that.

One of the first games that I remember playing on a console was Spyro on the original PlayStation. As a kid I never managed to beat the final level, but I did when I got older. I beat Spyro and Spyro 2 when I had a PSP, they were luckily available to digitally download.

Conclusion

What are some of the video game genres you enjoy? As always thank you for reading! Also if you aren’t aware I no longer use Twitter. It has increasingly become a terrible platform. I now use Bluesky. Feel free to follow me there if you’re on there! Next post will be about One Step from Eden!

I usually play RPGs and shooters. But I am still very diverse so I usually just say I play a bit of everything. The only ones I don’t really play are sports games. Although completed is probably shooters, I still say RPG as my number one genre because they take longer to complete. It would be RPGs, Shooters, then platformers, then everything else.

Yeah I don’t really play sports games either. I watch sports, but just can’t get into playing the games. It’s definitely difficult playing other games with RPGs being so long
