Year in Review

End of Year Review 2021

Welcome to my second end of year review. This year was somewhat better than last year, though not by a lot. 2021 Honestly went by fast. Staying inside warped my perception of time a bit though. This year definitely had its fair share of ups and downs. I went from fully online courses to having courses on campus. Enough with the negativity though, let’s get into some of the good of this year and plans for 2022.

As a side note there will be no featured posts from others. I will return to that in my January end of month review.

2021 Blog Stats

The top post honestly surprised my because I thought I didn’t know that many people played the Yu-Gi-Oh Tag Force series. I always thought it was more of a niche series. I’d love for the series to return, but I don’t think that will ever happen considering the current state of Konami.

Games I Played that Surprised Me

I’ll be going over games I played that surprised me this year. This list isn’t exclusive to games that came out this year. Games that have previously released will be included.

Hades

This games was probably the game that surprised me the most. I kept hearing people talk about how good the game was, but I was hesitant to get it. It usually takes me a bit to deviate from what I normally play. When my birthday came around I decided to try it out. I’m so glad that I did. This game is fantastic and each run is always different.

Guardians of the Galaxy

This game interested me, but I was definitely hesitant to get it. I didn’t like how the Avengers game was handled, so I wasn’t too excited that Square Enix was involved again. I put off getting it so that I could see some impressions on it first. It surprisingly went on sale for about half off around Thanksgiving so I decided to go ahead and get it. Eidos-Montréal knocked it out of the park with this game. I thought the narrative was great and I loved that they chose to have the Guardians newly formed.

Games Acquired in 2021 I Plan on Beating in 2022

  • Tales of Arise
  • Tales of Vesperia
  • The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
  • Monster Hunter Rise

Backlog Games I Plan on Beating in 2022

  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Astral Chain

2022 Personal Plans

The biggest thing happening for me next year is that I’m graduating from college in May. It still feels like it’s a decent ways away but it will be here before I know it. One of the main things I’ll be doing is searching for jobs. I’m hoping to have one lined up before I graduate.

2022 Blog Plans

Right now I have a couple of posts lined up. They’re mostly more first impression type blogs since I got some games for Christmas. I’m not sure what I’ll be posting about first. Some I’d like to play a little longer to be clear of the tutorial phase of each game. I’d like to get back to making videos of some sort and posting them here. I usually include videos in review posts, but they are pretty short.

I want to get more video content of some sort up and going, possibly some first impressions in video format. I’m going to try to make my blog more accessible. I noticed I get international viewers and would like for them to be able to easily read my content. The biggest barrier is that Google Chrome is the only browser that naturally translates web pages. Other web pages need a plug in to do the same. I’d like to make it as easy as possible for people to access my content.

Games I Hope to Get in 2022

  • Pokémon Legends Arceus
  • Rune Factory 5
  • God of War Ragnarok
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Star Ocean The Divine Force
  • Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Conclusion

I think my biggest accomplishment of this year was changing my blog schedule. I was honestly doing too much at the start of the year and into August. After a break I decided to just post when I can. It usually averages to about 5 posts a month. I’m a lot happier with my new schedule and will definitely continue with this schedule throughout the new year.

I want to thank you all for making this year better. Thank you for all the support you all have given me this year. I look forward to seeing what everyone gets into in 2022. What goals do you have for next year?
