My Thoughts on Cancelled ps5 Orders

Who’s to blame for the canceled ps5 preorders? Some might put all the blame on Sony and others blame the retailers, but who really is to blame? Here are my thoughts.

I believe that the retailers shoulder most of the blame, specifically Amazon. I say this because both Sony and Microsoft were forthcoming with informing people that preorder supply would be short. Retailers like Amazon blindly took orders and then when they took too many they had to cancel some of them. Now this isn’t to say that no blame falls on Sony or Microsoft for the debacle, these companies could have easily informed retailers about the supply that they would get. I believe as a retailer that if you are unsure of your supply take a small amount of preorders in the first wave, that way you can accept more orders because you estimated a low supply. It’s better to underestimate then overestimate.

Now the reason I specifically mentioned Amazon is because when it comes to preorders Amazon appears to always have issues. As soon as I saw orders being canceled it reminded me of the Persona 5 Royal Phantom Thieves Edition debacle. It happened around February 15th of this year. A large number of people had their preorders canceled. These were canceled due to a lack of availability. The blame falls completely on Amazon as they took more orders than what they had. This is why I order from Best Buy. Every preorder I’ve had from Best Buy has arrived on the day of the games release.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post, I appreciate it. I hope you have good day and stop by again.
