My Top 10 Video Games

Spider-Man 2018

Over the course of my many years I have played numerous video games. Some good and others not so good. Today I’ve decided to talk about the good with a list of my top 10 video games so far. These are games from any point in my life that I have enjoyed the most.

10. Super Mario 64 DS

Though I didn’t get the chance to play the original Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64, I was able to play the version made for the Nintendo DS. This was the first main line Mario game that I played. I enjoyed the multitude of worlds as well as the different objectives each world has. It was cool being able to play as four different characters, each with their own abilities.

9. Phantasy Star Universe

This game was my favorite game on the Xbox 360. This was probably the first action rpg that I played and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was an amazing game with different planets to travel to and had a great space scifi setting. I also liked the different jobs you could use which changed the weapons that you specialized in. You could use weapons like fists, guns, beam swords, great swords, and so much more. Each weapon also has skills that you can use with them.

8. Pokémon Platinum

Pokémon Platinum is one of my favorite Pokémon games. Out of all of them this one has stuck with me the most. I remember buying it as a kid when it came out with some money I saved up. I liked the designs of the Pokémon as well as the new evil organization, Team Galactic. Their battle music was pretty memorable and I felt this game was more challenging than others, especially the Elite Four. The Battle Frontier was also enjoyable and added some extra enjoyable content.

7. Spyro the Dragon

Spyro the Dragon was one of he only games I had for the original PlayStation and it was fantastic. As a kid playing as a dragon that could breathe fire was pretty cool. The different worlds were very unique. The game had six hub worlds and each hub world had different stages in them. Each stage was different and had a variety things to do. This was a game that was truly a game that was worth every penny. I had the chance to experience the first game all over again with the remaster as well as experience the third game for the first time.

6. Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse

Shin Megami Tensei IV

Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse was quite the enjoyable game. It had a lot of improvements from the previous game Shin Megami Tensei IV. I know that a lot of people enjoy the hidden alignment system, but I liked that they made it easier to get the alignment that you wanted. It was also cool to play as a different character and get to see some personality added to the previous main character. The music was also good and I enjoyed the demon recruitment, a main stay of this series. The best part is when you think the game is over a twist comes up and you get a lot more game play. That is one of the reason I enjoy this series of games. They offer so many hours of game play as well as multiple endings that make you want to replay the game.

5. Final Fantasy

I have played several games in the Final Fantasy series such as FF V, FF XV, and FF III. Out of playing all of these I still loved the first Final Fantasy the most. It’s hard to explain as I enjoyed all the others I played but I feel as though one sticks with me the most. I think it’s mostly because it was the RPG game that made me branch out more. I thought being able to choose the class of your characters was cool as well as being able to upgrade them later in the game. There were also extra dungeons you could do for special items. It was also available for ps2 and Windows.

4. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild was an amazing game. I liked the new take on the series compared to previous entries. Being able to explore the areas we wanted to and have the freedom of choosing when to fight the final boss was an interesting aspect. Though there are other open world games that have come before this one, I found this one to be one of the more enjoyable open world games out there. At first I didn’t like weapon durability in video games, but this game made it bearable. You could easily find weapons laying around as well as take them from enemies. You could also throw a weapon close to breaking at an enemy and finish using it that way. The story was interesting as you learn what happened in Link’s past through photos, if you choose to take them. I also liked how as the hero you lost. Not many games have you fighting back after you failed.

3. The World Ends With You

This was a game I missed when it was released for the Nintendo DS, I had the chance to get it last about two years ago when the remix came out for the Nintendo Switch. I enjoyed the unique battle system as well as the wide arrangement of music. Your character equipped pins that allow him to do different attacks. Some pins can evolve and change into more powerful ones. I enjoyed the story and characters a lot as you actually learn some pretty important life lessons. This was a truly unique game and I have never experienced another game like this.

2. Spider-Man 2018

This was a dare I say Spectacular game, see what I did there? In all seriousness I really enjoyed this game. The swinging was so fun that I never used the fast travel system. The combat was very enjoyable and the stealth was pleasant. The gadgets were incredible and the different suits you could wear were plentiful. My favorite suit had to be the Spirit Spider Suit.

I mean doesn’t that look cool? All these suits were also shown in cut scenes which was a nice detail. This game was truly a lot of fun. If you enjoyed this game like I did then you’ll enjoy Spider-Man: Miles Morales. You can read my review here.

1. Persona 5/Persona 5 Royal

Persona 5/ Persona 5 Royal has been the best game that I have played so far. I grouped them together since Persona 5 Royal is still the same base game with added extras like activities, characters, and personas. I saw the trailers and immediately wanted to get it. I actually traded in my Xbox 360 and the Nintendo 2DS I had at the time to get a ps3 just to play this game. I think I got it the day it came out and could not put it down. This was an amazing game and a huge step up from the previous entries in the Persona series. I’ve probably replayed it about four times. I’ve played through Persona 5 Royal once and am half way through another play through. I’ve also gotten the platinum trophy for Royal, which is rare because I don’t go after trophies most of the time. The music n this games was just phenomenal. My favorite songs have to be Rivers in the desert, Throw Your Mask Away, Keep Your Faith, and I believe. This is a game I highly recommend. I believe you can currently get Persona 5 Royal for $20.

Thank you for reading my top ten list. If you enjoyed my list or have a favorite game comment down below. Please remember that this list is my personal opinion. If you don’t like a game that I have on here or agree with the placement that’s fine, but this is my personal list on my favorite games. Thank you for reading.
