Introduction
Hello everyone! I’m fresh off the PlayStation Showcase and now I’m ready to discuss all my thoughts. The game trailers are below with my thoughts under the videos.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake
The original was absolutely great. It is one of my favorite Star Wars games. I’m excited to see more as development comes along. I’m interested in how they update the gameplay. I definitely wouldn’t mind them doing away with the old attack system. This is a day one buy after I know what’s being changed.
Project Eve
I’m liking the visuals. From the gameplay shown it seems to be an action RPG. The environments and enemies look pretty good. I’m interested to see more as time passes. I’m particularly interested in the story.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
This game looks like there will be plenty of fun to be had. What’s not to love about Borderlands with and magic. I can see myself playing this at some pint.
Forspoken
The visuals look really good. The environments seem stunning. Looks like magic is the main way of attacking. I’m definitely interested in this game. The one thing I’m waiting to see more of are the battle mechanics. Since it seems that we’re attacking with mostly magic, where there be a mana point system or cool down effects?
Rainbow Six Extraction
Looks good, but I’m not particularity interested in this. I don’t normally play first person shooters or multiplayer games. Looks good if this is your cup of tea though.
Allen Wake Remastered
It looked pretty good. I feel like a definite buy for horror game fans. I personally don’t play horror games. A lot of people have been waiting for this I think.
Grand Theft Auto V
Not trying to sound rude, but this games has been out since the ps3 and Xbox 360. I don’t think this belonged in the PlayStation Showcase. It has been on three different console generations now. I am not showing the trailer for obvious reasons.
Ghostwire Tokyo
It looks pretty interesting. I’m guessing the enemies shown are from Japanese mythology. One thing I can’t tell is if the game is just in first person or if needs VR. If it’s VR then I think I’ll pass on it. I wonder if there will be stories you can read in game about the monsters you encounter.
Guardians of the Galaxy
I am definitely interested in this game. I was immediately more interested after finding out that it’s single player focused. The game looks pretty fun. I look forward to hearing the music in combat. I am curious if you can control the Guardian’s ship from the small snippet it showed of it.
Blood Hunt
It looked intriguing. I looked it up and it appears to be a Battle Royal type game. There are a lot out there, but this one has some interesting gameplay. Battle Royals aren’t my cup of tea though.
Death Loop
Death Loop honestly looks pretty good and the premise is interesting. I am a little tired from seeing it so many times though, but it releases soon.
KID A MNESIA Exhibition
Not a lot of details were given on this one. I looked it up and it seems like visual displays of some kind celebrating Radiohead’s albums. I’m not showing the little teaser since it isn’t a game. I would like to keep the post focused on games. The video is on PlayStation’s YouTube channel if you’re interested in watching it.
TCHIA
It looks like a charming game. It looks like you can become different animals. I’m liking the visual style. This is definitely something feel like a lot of people will enjoy.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
I never played the games when they first came out, but I might come around to them now. I always enjoy seeing games that people enjoy getting put unto a collection with updated graphics.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Insomniac certainly surprised me with this one. I’m looking forward to seeing how the game progresses. I assume there won’t be anymore news for quite some time, which I don’t mind. I trust Insomniac with Wolverine after the great job they did with Spider Man.
Grand Turismo 7
Looks like a great time for racing game enthusiast. I don’t play racing games, but it looks really good. I know people have been waiting quite some time for this to release.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
It sounded like Kraven the Hunter was narrating, which has me excited. Venom showing up was also a welcome surprise. I can’t wait to see more. This is a definite day one buy for me. I wonder if we’ll be switching between Peter and Miles during fights or if it swaps depending on the story.
God of War Ragnorock
This game looks fantastic. God of War was great and I think this game will just as great if not better. I’m really looking forward to how the story continues. It looked like there was some new combat abilities for both Kratos and Artreus.
Conclusion
I think that the PlayStation Showcase was great. I feel like there was something for everyone. My top games so far from what was shown are Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok and Forspoken. I’m still excited for a majority of the games listed and look forward to seeing more of them. What games caught your attention? How would you rate the PlayStation Showcase overall?
