Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet: Latest Information

Introduction

On June 1st we got a quick look at new details for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The video introduced new professors, new Pokémon, a new rival (I assume), and new features. I’m excited for the newest mainline game. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet release November 18, 2022.

New Professors

From the trailer we were shown not only one new professor, but two. Usually in the Pokemon series there is one professor regardless of which version you chose. This time each game version has a different professor.

On the left is Professor Sada and on the right is Professor Turo. Professor Sada is the professor in Pokémon Scarlet and Professor Turo is the Professor in Pokémon Violet.

I’m interested in seeing how this plays out when the games release. Will they mention each other, or do they simply exist in their respective versions?

New Pokémon

This Pokémon reminds me a little bit of Tepig. I feel as thou if this one evolves it might become a Dark or Ground type. I’m predicting that if it has an evolution, it will look like a Warthog of some kind maybe.

This Pokémon reminds me off several other grass types. It reminds me of Budew and Cherubi. I could see it having an evolution similar to Cherubi. My reasoning for this is because Cherubi is the Cherry Pokémon and Smoliv is the Olive Pokémon.

I predict that Pawmi will not have an evolution. I’m basing this off of the other electric mouse Pokémon that have been introduced in previous generations.

4 Player Co-Op

In the trailer we saw four characters interacting with each other. This is described in detail from the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet website:

“Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet allow multiplayer gameplay with up to four players.​,Along with series staples, such as trading and battling Pokémon, you will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players. You can discover new Pokémon and explore unfamiliar areas with your friends and family, opening the door to an adventure more precious and fun than ever!”

I still have a few questions regarding multiplayer. Will you be able to progress the story when doing multiplayer? Can players earn badges in someone else’s game in multiplayer? We’ll obviously learn more later, but those are the questions I have as of now.

Other Thoughts

I’m excited to see more. I’m interested in the concept of being able to go where we want without being restricted by the story. It makes me wonder if we’ll be able to obtain badges in any order or if we still have to do the predetermined order. I think it would be cool if we could earn the badges in any order we wanted to. I’m also hoping that the evil team of this game is better than Sword and Shield. Team Yell wasn’t even really evil, they were just annoying fans.

I mentioned in a previous article, but I’d like to see some side activities. I’d like to see the return of either the Pokémon Contest or the Pokémon Triathlon from HeartGold and SoulSilver. It would be nice to have some more side activities to do since it has already been established that not everyone in the Pokémon world are after badges.
